Dandelion Vineyards Twilight of the Adelaide Hills Chardonnay
- Dandelion are known as much for their quality winemaking as they are their for impossibly long wine names. The twilight of the Adelaide Hills is a celebration of modern Chardonnay from winemaker Elena Brooks. It’s imbued with a wet pebble minerality, but there’s peach and citrus as well alluding to quality oak, some grilled nuts make a late appearance. A creamy palate reveals white peach, lemon meringue and vanilla pod, a generous texture and a spicy oak finish that’s propped up by smart natural acid. 80
Vibrant pale straw with a golden tinge. Twilight Chardonnay captures the expression of the Adelaide Hills terroir with layers of citrus, guava, apple and pineapple character. Hints of brioche, praline and mineral weave through the lush fruit flavours. Vibrant palate of generous Clingstone peach and lemon peel entwined with almond meal and vanilla bean notes. The palate is richly layered and Chardonnay’s natural taut acidity balances the accents of French oak off in the lengthy finish.
Drink now. With a zesty nose, three dimensional and refreshing palate, this wine is delicious either served moderately chilled with a second glass, second bottle even as an aperitif, or with seafood.
James Halliday says:“
Pale straw-green; the fragrant bouquet is quickly followed by an intense and tightly focussed by an intense and tightly focussed palate of impressive length, white stonefruit interwoven with grapefruit; the decision to largely ferment in stainless steel, with some new and used French barriques, worked well. 12.5% alc.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says:“
Yet another very well made wine from Dandelion; fragrant white peach, nectarine and citrus fruit flavours have largely absorbed the generous use of quality French oak; good length and balance.Australian Wine Companion 2011 201094
