  • Nick Stock says:

This Yarra Claret is in terrific shape in 2010, showing plenty of ripe and supple spiced blue and black fruits, some cassis and cherry plums and leafy nuances. The palate shows plenty of flesh and supple tannins, dark chocolate, dark berries and hints of spice throughout. Medium to full bodied in 2010 - a great vintage!

    James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says:

Crimson-red; a very harmonious bouquet leads into a strongly structured palate with the black fruits duelling with the tannins in an evenly matched contest over the next decade. Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/ Petit Verdot/Cabernet Franc.

Shows what the Yarra can do with Bordeaux blends; elegant and complex style, medium-bodied harmonious proportions with fine tannins

    James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says:

Quite serious cabernet blend, with dark savoury personality, good fruit concentration and with the oak to accompany, needs time but is built for the long haul.

    Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says:

A Yarra Valley claret with fine, lighter red fruits and cassis - some blue notes here too - and leafy fresh complexity, chocolate and spiced French oak. The palate has a restrained style - really svelte - and supple cassis and blue fruit flavours; fine smooth tannins and an edge of ripeness to close

    Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says:

There is a real lift of fruit on the nose with jubey characters in there. Terrific fruit intensity with lifted red berry and cedar. It was a more rapid ripening year but has excellent fruit intensity and substance. The cabernet dominance is really to the fore and showing excellent Yarra characters of redcurrant and sweet, ripe fruit. Silky fine, smooth, ripe tannins.

Shows what the Yarra can do with fuller bodied Bordeaux blends; in a savoury style of harmonious proportions and firm tannins.

    James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says:

Intense flavours, texture and structure all reflecting the Bordeaux blend; tannins are woven through the blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit, lengthening the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot/ Petit Verdot/ Cabernet Franc.

    Campbell Mattinson (2005 Vintage) says:

This is a blend of forty-eight per cent cabernet sauvignon, forty-seven per cent merlot and then dashes of cabernet franc and petit verdot. It's a true Bordeaux-blend and has all the structure and breadth of flavour you'd expect. 2005 RELEASE I'm amazed at how long this took to come up in the glass. Given time though, it shows as a firm, expansive red, bold with mulberries and pencil, undergrowth, milk chocolate and the finest, cedary oak. I reckon this needs at least ten years in a cool, dark place. It is a monster - of the most highly structured kind. It's going to live for a very long time. DRINK 2013-2023.

    James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says:

Rich and (by Yarra Valley standards) opulent; the skilful blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc provides an array of black fruits without the slightest hint of green; good tannins and oak, not at all monstrous.

    James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says:

Attractive, almost glossy fruit; medium-bodied; fine tannins to balance the fruit and give moderate length.
