2010 Xanadu Next of Kin Cabernet Sauvignon CrackaWines James Halliday 93
  • James Halliday says:

Light to medium red-purple; it should come as no surprise to find clear and precise juicy blackcurrant and redcurrant cabernet varietal character on both the bouquet and palate of this mediumbodied wine, backed and complexed by cedary oak and tannins.

    Nick Stock says:

This has some lovely style about it, dark cherry and cassis fruits, nice and upbeat, hints of dark herbs too. The palate has beautiful purity, effortless balance, cassis; sweet cabernet herbs and a lick of toasty oak all add up to real value and drinking pleasure.

    James Halliday says:

Mid-garnet; this single block wine displays an elegant, subtle and refined personality, full of red fruits, a splash of thyme and spicy oak; the palate is light-bodied and graceful, with silky tannins prevailing on the sweet oak, long and fragrant finish.

    Rob Geddes MW says:

Very fresh and elegant style here with subtle fruit complexity. Blue berry fruit initially with a mineral subtle sea side iodine aromas. Very modern style, tight long structure blue berry, tapenade flavours, well filled tannins and firm finish as a young wine. Needs time, lay down till 2016 and let the tannins soften and the fruit flower.

This is a restrained and refined cabernet, exciting with very pure blackcurrant aromas and delivering the same with velvet soft tannins putting it amongst our best.

    Tyson Stelzer (2008 Vintage) says:

Another sensational value for money Margaret River Cabernet from Xanadu. It's got everything you'd expect from a much more expensive bottle - crunchy blackcurrants, fresh tobacco, green capsicum, fine, supple tannins and a long, lingering finish. It will age for a few years, too.

    Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says:

Dip your snoz into the glass and the unmistakable burst of Margaret River Cabernet. Leafy black currant and traces of black olive. It's medium bodied with fine ripe tannins and a little dusty oak overlay. Works beautifully for me as a short term food wine.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says:

Delish! Just a really tasty wine - and it smells lovely too. Dark chocolate, mulberry, wet earth and vanilla _ a medium-bodied palate that smoothly delivers on those scents, then adds some extra cherry flavour. Lacks the depth and length for a higher score, but rates high for yumminess.
