      • James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says:

A savoury/earthy expression of Cabernet, the bouquet and medium-bodied palate both delivering the same message; its strengths lie in its structure and length, both of prime importance for the variety.

        Best Drinking: To 2017

        James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says:

Good hue; attractive, medium-bodied wine, with both regional and varietal typicity; the blackcurrant fruit has ripe, gently earthy tannins in support; good line, length and balance.

        Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2005 Vintage) says:

Some of this region's producers are the experts at making well-priced cabernet; Tim Gramp is one of them. This needed to be held back because it's solid and strong and in need of some time to soften. It's just starting to do that now. It tastes of dark leather, blackcurrant, beef stock and tar, though all these flavours carry a light blanket of sawdusty, vanillin oak. Excellent red to knock back over the next few years.

The Big Red Wine Book 2009/10 2009

        James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says:

Light- to medium-bodied; cedary, earthy bottle-developed characters starting to emerge alongside a splash of redcurrant; balanced tannins and oak.

        Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008

        James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says:

Medium-bodied; earthy/savoury aromas; an austere palate with a quite dry finish.

        Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006

        James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says:

High pH colour; earthy/savoury/austere end of the spectrum; medium-bodied, with a core of black fruits.

        Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004

        James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says:

Medium red-purple; the relatively light bouquet has a range of earthy/leafy/berry aromas, characters which come through on the light to medium-bodied palate, where they are joined by touches of mint and chocolate.

        Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003

        James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says:

Medium red-purple; the clean but somewhat light bouquet has savoury /leafy notes to the fore, replaced by redcurrant/red berry fruit on entry to the mouth, before finishing a little sharpish.

        Australian Wine Companion 2003 2002

        James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says:

Medium red-purple; very strong vanilla American oak thrusts its way through the bouquet; the wine has fair structure and balance, but the fruit is overwhelmed by that oak
