2 Mates McLaren Vale Shiraz

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Deep purple-crimson; part of the grapes came from 140-year-old vines, the other from much younger vines; the wine is an undeniably full-bodied and powerful blend of black fruits, regional dark chocolate, savoury tannins and oak - but is not alcoholic.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Excellent shiraz with all the varietal characters. Has balance, length and intensity.
WINESTATE Volume 34 (2011) 2011
James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Made from parcels of vines up to 100 years old. Purple-crimson; a powerful, concentrated wine full of black fruits, licorice, tar and dark chocolate, but emerges on the finish with juicy black fruits; an interesting ride boding well for the future.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Dense, inky colour; an absolutely massive wine in a Henry VIII mould; some will love it, others find it undrinkable (not because there is a technical fault, for there isn't). Impossible to give meaningful points; these are arbitrary, as is the drink-by date.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Quintessential McLaren Vale, with swirls of dark and milk chocolate running through the black fruit background of the bouquet and palate alike the alcohol is obvious, but does add a touch of softness to the fruit flavours.
