Cracka Review

Boutique producer Fuddling Cup focus on premium Cabernet Sauvignon from the north of Margaret River in Western Australia. This Cabernet has seen some serious love in vineyard and winery with Colin and Gail Higgins paying attention to every detail. Controlled yields and new French oak maturation give the wine intense, concentrated flavours and structured flavours and tannins. This is a serious Cabernet, and the perfect accompaniment to a big bowl of lamb stew.

Winemaker's Notes

Lifted aroma with dark cherry and forest fruit enhanced by cedar and vanilla notes. Palate shows lovely primary fruits and attractive firm but supple tannins which will develop more chocolate and earthy characters with bottle time.

2008 Fuddling Cup WA Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Huon Hooke (2008 Vintage) says
Medium deep red-purple. Very good colour, bright. Fresh, youthful aromas, some banana and blueberry, black-cherry. Full bodied and firmly tannic, but tannins are ripe and supple. Solid, full-bodied and powerful: long-term ageing potential. Impressive stuff. Could use more flesh in middle. But excellent.

Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says
There have been some very good Cabernets from Fuddling Cup but I think this is about the best. Has the richness of the 2007 with the elegance of the 2006. It all comes together so easily in this effortlessly long and richly textured wine. Excellent structure of ripe tannins beautifully judged oak. Excellent wine.
Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
Concentrated cassis and leaf-style cabernet, showing sturdy structure and stylish oak. Admirable now, but enjoyable later – best from 2016.
