Cracka Review

From a small, family-run Champagne house which sits alongside (and pre-dates) the Bollinger cellars in Ay, Lallier has proven so popular here at Cracka that it now comfortably outsells Moet & Veuve combined! The Grand Cru Millesime is a rare blend of 100% Grand Crus fruit (even $330 Dom Perignon isn't all Grand Crus fruit), and has spent a huge six years on lees, showing a rare combination of complexity and freshness - no surprises that it has wooed the critics!

Winemaker's Notes

Since 1906, Lallier is a craft manufacture of prestigious crus de Champagne. Our 2008 Vintage is pure, without any artifice. Thanks to its 100% Grands Crus blend of chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and pinot noir from Aÿ, it reflects the essence of the 2008 harvest. With its mature aromas, the persistence and balance of its creamy foam, this cuvee matches perfectly the French art of drinking and eating well.

The 2008 Vintage is fresher, more mineral. Even after more than six years of ageing, this wine offers notably elegant aromas, still with citrus and white flesh fruits notes mixed with more mature and deeper notes such as honey, wax and light roasting notes.

Its mouth is crisp and generous, well balanced and without any harshness thanks to its creamy foam. It pairs with all gourmet food especially with fish and scallops; slightly creamy and spicy poultry; all sorts of cheeses and with fruity delicious desserts.

2008 Lallier Grand Cru Millesime

Expert Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008 Vintage) says
Lallier's golden-yellow colored 2008 Millésime Grand Cru Brut – an assemblage of 55% Pinot Noir from Aÿ, and 45% Chardonnay from Avize and Cramant, disgorged in September 2014 with eight grams per liter of dosage – offers a deep, pure, complex and elegant bouquet of pain aux raisins, brioche, apple strudel, walnuts and humid chalk. Round and complex on the palate, this lovely, matured, mouth-filling and perfectly balanced Millésime combines its fullness and richness with a remarkable freshness and finesse; the long finish (with honey and almond flavors) reveals a very good structure and lingering minerality. This is a beautifully elegant and Pinot-driven Champagne.
