2008 Mystery Margaret River Museum Release Cabernet Merlot

Cracka Value Rating

Cracka Review

It's not often that we get aged wine here at Cracka, with most of the vino that passes through the doors here at Cracka fitting into the 'brand-spanking new' category. But not today! Today, we've raided the cellar of a five-star rated boutique Margaret River winery and come up with a mighty tasty aged delight!

This 2008 Mystery Margaret River Museum Release Cabernet Merlot comes from a vineyard east of the Margaret River township planted in the late 70s, and is deliberately made for long ageing.

That ageworthiness shows, as back in 2014 Winestate magazine had a bottle submitted to their tastings and it was described as 'in excellent condition' with 'gentle oak and drying tannins'.

Gary Walsh was also a fan, giving this 92 points and James Halliday gave this 91 points.

That mellow, aged Cabernet style is the real appeal here, with a gentle complexity and savoury elegance that makes this glorious food wine purpose-built for a lamb roast.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromas of berry, dark chocolate and toast. The palate is medium-bodied with berry, chocolate and fine tannins.
