2008 Tahbilk Museum Release Marsanne

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

These wines seem like they can live forever under screwcap, and this one is certainly looking like age will not weary it. Attractive aromas of lemon meringue, honey, citrus and slight nuttiness adorns the nose, whilst flavours of baked apples, liquid honey, lemons and toast punch through, with racy acidity, a talcy texture, and a crisp finish. At only about 11% alcohol, you can reach for that second glass with your veggie lasagne.

Winemaker's Notes

A rich and full flavoured wine that is still youthful and evolving. There are honeyed/honeysuckle and toast notes with hints of parmesan on the nose and a quite delicious palate of lime, citrus and melon/tropical fruits still ably supported by a strong yet fine backbone of acidity.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green; the bouquet offers an intense mix of toast, honey and honeysuckle; the palate has even weight and flow, and a fine and long finish. When first tasted back in October 1998 it was given 87 points, which simply serves to show the rewards for cellaring Marsanne in most (though not all) vintages.
