Cracka Review

The 2009 Madeleines Nangkita Single Vineyard Fleurieu Peninsula Chardonnay is huge, robust and rich - an old-school Chardonnay lovers dream.

Made from a single vineyard (and by a masterful winemaker) in the Fleurieu Peninsula, this started its life as a much tighter, leaner wine, but eight years in the bottle has seen it transform into a gargantuan of butter and stone fruit - perfect for those who think 'bigger is better' when it comes to Chardonnay. Apricot, peach, creamy nougat and spice, this is a booming wine - mighty and monumental.

Winemaker's Notes

A fresh elegant style showing tropical melon, stone fruits and zest.

Handmade from estate grown cool climate grapes, Nangkita Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula.

We nurtured this batch by leaving it alone. The wild yeasts took their time... then instinct took over and a complex flavoursome ferment began.

Deep golden straw appearance. Full, clean, sweet varietal fruit, textural hints, rich white peach flavours, smoky toasty oak notes.

Alc/vol: 13.5%

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Cool-grown and seemingly un-oaked, with a bright mix of nectarine and grapefruit aromas and flavours; good mouthfeel and length.
