2010 Gordon Hills Estate Lidster Hill Orange Cabernet Blend

Cracka Value Rating

Cracka Review

Those who think Orange in NSW is too cool for Cabernet, think again. The region is more than capable of producing a decent Cab Sauv, and this blend is no exception. It displays fragrant aromas of dark-berried fruits with a touch of tobacco on the nose. The palate is more medium-bodied with a ripe plummy centre, finely grained tannins and a dry, decent length. It's drinking well now, and would match barbecued spare ribs perfectly.

Winemaker's Notes

Matured in French oak barriques, this Cabernet blend is luscious and juicy with ripe fruit and fine tannins.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Cabernet Franc (22%), Merlot (17%).

Alc/vol: 14.1%

2010 Gordon Hills Estate Lidster Hill Orange Cabernet Blend

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
A 61/22/17% blend, open-fermented with wild yeast and matured in French barriques, 25% new. The bouquet is quite luscious, with juicy, ripe cassis/blackcurrant and tobacco leaf, the tannins fine, the oak making a positive contribution. All up, a really attractive wine.
