2011 Geoff Merrill Three Virgos Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Geoff Merrill is a legend of Australian wine industry with his wines almost as big as his moustache. This is typically bold Cabernet that is rich and round now and shows some subtle cedary complexity. If you like them big and strong with some age then this is most definitely worth a shot.

Winemaker's Notes

The story behind the Three Virgos label is a family tribute; both Geoff & his father were born both on the same day in September, one day later than the birthday of his grandfather.

Appearance: The colour has excellent depth and is very dark red with hints of crimson.

Nose: The wonderful varietal aroma is immediately noticeable while the blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra bring out the best in this Cabernet showing peppermint, violets, leather, black olive, menthol with toasty vanilla.

Palate: The palate is fresh and tight with firm tannins, well balanced acidity and finishes with a clean fresh fruit note.
