Geoff Merrill is a legend of Australian wine industry with his wines almost as big as his moustache. This is typically bold Cabernet that is rich and round now and shows some subtle cedary complexity. If you like them big and strong with some age then this is most definitely worth a shot.
The 2008 vintage will be remembered for the incredible heat wave that affected South Australia and the challenges associated with it. Early indications pointed towards it being one of the greatest vintages we had seen in McLaren Vale. Good vineyard management meant we were able to process healthy fruit and we now have some excellent wines in our cellar.
Appearance: The colour has excellent depth and is very dark red with hints of crimson.
Nose: The wonderful varietal aroma is immediately noticeable while the blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra bring out the best in this Cabernet showing peppermint, violets, leather, black olive, menthol with toasty vanilla.
Palate: The palate is fresh and tight with firm tannins, well balanced acidity and finishes with a clean fresh fruit note.
