Antichello is a label owned by the Begnoni family of the Veneto producer, Santa Sofia. All the traditional styles of the Valpolicella are represented plus some other value varieties, both from within Veneto and also other regions, are sourced and produced for the brand. Antichello wines represent excellent value throughout the range.
Winemaking: 100% Montepulciano grapes from Abruzzo are destemmed and then fermented on skins for 2o days. After that, the wine is settled then aged in tanks for around 7 months before bottling.
Appearance: Ruby to brick red.
On the nose: The nose is blackberry and strawberry.
On the palate: The palate is full flavoured but fruit driven with some secondary mature flavours of chocolate and tobacco.
