Big and bold - as you’d expect from the Vale - this has layers of plush blackberry and leafy varietal fruit, now lifted by some cedary, cigar box aged complexity. It is at the absolute peak of its powers, but with plenty of tannins left to ensure it will get even better over the next decade. Mature McLaren Vale Cabernet does not get much better than this.
Appearance:This wine shows a brick red colour, with garnet tints along the edges.
Nose:Lovely fragrances of fruit cake, musk, cinnamon, earth and meaty nuances flow off the nose.
Palate:The vibrant palate is full of dark chocolate, rhubarb, coffee and tart cherry flavours. Firm and fine tannins integrate with the characters, with well balanced acidity leading to a lengthy climax.
