A very stylish and structured Cabernet from 40+ year old vines. This delivers brooding dark berry fruits, cedary oak influence, trademark regional roasting herbs and a gravely savoury thread. The palate has power with style, faultless building tannins, and long purple berry fruit flavours; supple and even. Good to go now but best from 2018. Screw cap.

Shows all the marvellous virtues of Margaret River Cabernet. Blackcurrant aromas with a little black olive and dark chocolate influences. There's a grainy dusty earthiness on the palate which is clearly capturing a sense of the vineyard. Grainy and slightly sinewy ripe tannins with such concentrated fruit expression. Finishes with focus and length. Cellar 20 years.

The picture is still unfolding but it's clear that we have a powerful Cabernet on our hands here, presented in an elegant frame. Mulberry and cassis, game and chicory, bay leaves and a slide of cedary oak. It's so neat it feels freshly ironed. Drink by 2032.

It’s a medium weight Cabernet, clearly into elegant territory but with no lack of power. Flavours of cassis, chicory, game and bay leaves do the talking, though it’s equally categorised by the fine, firm tannin pressed through the back palate. It’s not particularly bright, but it is Cabernet and it does come across as exceptionally neat. I wanted to be more excited than I was.

Deep red colour with a trace of purple. The bouquet is intense and rich with a strong oak backing and a trace of funk. It's the same in the mouth, where the flavour is deep and lasting, generously imbued with high-quality oak and a finish that rolls on and on. It's quite firm and should be quite long-lived.

The 2010 is no exception, with a deep cherry and black fruit nose, cassis and purple fl orals, sweet oak adding interest and a thread of ripe, leafy regional character in the mix. The palate is brimming with lively fruit attack; there s cassis, anise and toasty, cedary oak here. Impressive, chalky tannin texture, really packed with flavour, immensely fresh too. The palate's built on a core of fine, ripe tannins and cloaked in ripe purple-berry fruit flavours - very smooth and even, long and regal - freshness from top to toe. I have revisited this several times over the course of writing this year's Guide and have upped the ante to place this in the very top level of Margaret River Cabernet. This has a youthful allure about it and is just settling into stride on the nose. Smells of mocha-scented oak give way to leaves and cassis, fresh-picked roasting herbs and some earthy nuances too. The palate has lively, supple berry uptake amid rich, swirling tannins that straighten through the middle and pin the finish into long, even shape. Toasty oak adds swanky style.
