This richly-fruited red from Pirramimma is already sporting gold 'bling' from the Adelaide Wine Show and it's easy to see why. Heady smells of spiced berries and cherries, florals and poached apricots lift from the glass, whilst the palate is full-bodied (14.5% alcohol) and sweetly-fruited, with talcy tannins, bright acidity, and a lick of toasted cedar on the finish. Excellent with barbecued lamb kebabs.
The wine exhibits a bouquet of spicy black plum, boysenberry , bramble, subtle cedary oak and hints of stewed apricot. The rich powerful palate displays liquorice, blueberry, black cherry, enhanced by exotic spices, white pepper, with hints of ripe apricot and nutty oak.
This outstanding example of Shiraz Viognier will require decanting or air infusion.
Excellent drinking now and will reward careful cellaring for 5-8 years.
