Cracka Review

Aged for 36 months (24 in oak) before release, the 2012 Roberto Sarotto Barolo DOCG sits on the elegant end of the Barolo spectrum, but don't let that fool you - it still has plenty of the varietal structure and power you'd expect.

Garnet with orange accents, the nose is heavily perfumed with crushed violet and rose, the palate vigorous with cherry, terracotta and anise. Firm but delicate acid and tannin provide the expected structure; the finish long, lifted and persistent. With a Gold Medal from Mundus Vini 2016, this is an epic buy for anyone who'd like to enjoy Barolo on a more regular basis. Which is, well, everyone.

A wine to be enjoyed now or over the next 10 years, this is an opportunity for any lover of Barolo to indulge in their passion at a fraction of its usual price.

Winemaker's Notes

Barolo DOCG. Made from Nebbiolo grapes, this magnificent red, known as “the king of wines and the wine of kings" is a showpiece of Piedmontese winemaking. A wine for big occasions, it charms and wins over the palate with its power and body, leaving a lovely sensation of warmth. Garnet red with orange highlights, it has an intense, ethereal, characteristic bouquet together with a full-bodied dry taste which is rich, smooth and well-balanced. A superior wine, at its very best with roasts and game.

Vinification Process: Maceration and further fermentation that lasts about 10 days.

Ageing: 2 months in stainless steel tanks, 24 months in oak casks, 6 months in stainless steel tanks, 6 months in bottles.

Alc/vol: 14.0 - 14.5%
