2012 Tyrrell's Reserve Willunga Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

2012 was one of those vintages where everything went right (in South Australia at least). The sun shone. Birds tweeted. The rain came exactly when the vignerons wanted it to rain. Things were just about perfect.

It was a vintage where everyone smiled a lot. And the smiles were very big in McLaren Vale home of this rich Tyrrell's Reserve Willunga Shiraz.

Sourced from Tyrrell's McLaren Vale vineyard not from the township of Willunga, this rich, hearty and full-flavoured red wine just oozes classic Shiraz flavours, with endless plum, fine tannins and a long long finish. This Shiraz comes from a single vineyard in Willunga, located in the southern end of McLaren Vale. Matured for over 12 months in French oak, I think this is the finest wine yet under the Tyrrell’s Red Dirt or Willunga labels - with deep purple/red flavours; layers of opulent choc-blackberry fruit and a touch of spice.

It's the sort of wine that everyone likes and if they don't, they're not a real fan of Aussie Shiraz.

Winemaker's Notes

Established in 1858 Tyrrell’s has years of winemaking history. McLaren Vale Shiraz displays bold, balanced and powerful wines. This smooth yet spicy red is rich with flavour whilst supported by firm tannins which provide good length and complexity.
