Willow Bridge Estate is a multi-awarded, family-owned 60-hectare estate headed by Jeff Dewar, whose ethos of the wine culture is a firm belief that wines are made in the vineyard, thus compelling the whole wine staff to work closely with the vineyard. Their annual crush is estimated at about 450 tonnes, thus far producing 18,000 cases each year. Kim Norton, Chief Winemaker at Willow Bridge, shows his true passion for winemaking by crafting rich and elegant wine varietals and blends.
It is a pale straw in colour and has primary aromas of lemon pith, almond meal and sweet green apples. It shows attractive fruit flavours of lemon citrus spirit, grilled nuts, baked bread and dried fig extracted from ageing on yeast lees.
Palate: The front palate is more lemon-like, tasting of subtle pear and white-fleshed nectarine, leading on to the creamy mid-palate which consists of mineral flintiness. On the whole, the palate’s core of fresh fruit is balanced by a yeasty combination ending on a lively finish of cleansing apple-like acidity.
Food Match: This excellent food wine goes well with shellfish, caviar, and smoked salmon, prawns served with butter sauce, cheese and salty foods.
