Pristine and complex, the fruit centre expresses purity and focus. Grapefruit minerality combined with toasty oak spices enhance a very long, elegant finish. Classic white peach/pear with citrus undertones. Delicate cinnamon spice compliment the toasty barrel fermentation creaminess.

White peach, grapefruit, almonds, oatmeal, gentle toast and spiced oak, touch of struck match. Plenty of flavour and smooth texture, shot through with flinty highlights. Length. Interest. Complexity. All there. It’s cohesive and convincing. I like that it makes a statement but isn’t over-bearing. All just so. Great wine. It’s 95 or 96 points. Didn’t quite decide.

This is a master piece of the modern chardonnay genre, with a subtle complex aroma that grows more nuanced from its base of vanilla oak, pear chardonnay fruit, nougaut, lees and solids complexity. In 2012 a very young wine, evocative, subtle with a delicate front and middle, and a firm dry finish in its youth. The quality of the fruit, natural acidity, balance of tannins, style and overall elegance indicate a wine for the long haul. A chardonnay that can be decanted.

Smoky scents of grapefruit, cumquat, nectarine and white peach with undertones of grilled almonds, smoked hams, lanolin and dried flowers are backed by creamy, matchstick like oak. Its round and viscous, with a pleasing fluffiness and slightly confectionery fruit and buttery oak wrapped with bright, crystalline, citrusy acids. Very complex and competent.

It would just be plain perverse of me to complain about any winery moving to screwcaps when I spend so much time bitching about problem corks. It's just that Yering Station's Reserve wines used to have these beautiful wax coverings on the corks...Still, the loss of a bit of messy wax is a small price to pay for the promise of taint-free wine, especially when it's one of the best in the land. Brilliant chardy, this—their first Reserve since 2002.

Very delicate, perfumed almost fragile chardonnay whose aromas of melon grapefruit and f grainy oak are presently rather closed and floral. Its long creamy palate of stonefruit and citrus, apple and pear culminates in soft acids and lingering suggestions of quince and cumquat. Its flavour are bright and clear, while its slightly baby fat like texture finishes with tightness and elegance.
