2013 Forest HIll Vineyards Block 1 Riesling

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This racy rizza from a single block in Mount barker is a high-wire act that is yet to reach its full potential. Dry in style, it's a tightly-coiled number that shows heightened floral and citrus smells on the nose, along with hints of beeswax and flint. The palate is light, dry and minerally, with zippy lemon and ginger flavours, a talcy texture, frisky acidity, and a long, lingering honeysuckle finish. this will last at least 10 years!

Winemaker's Notes

Bright straw in colour with green hues. Lifted aromas of jasmine and lime blossom. The palate is zesty with fresh lime and slate. It has a steely structure that is well balanced by its natural acidity leading to a long and mineral finish.

Alc/vol: 12.5%

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
The complex, flowery bouquet has developed a hint of spice, and the palate is just starting to relax, with an expanding range of flavours and accompanying power. Its freshness, integrity, line and length are the hallmark of the continuity of the style of all of the vintages of Block 1 so far made. Gold medal Qantas Wine Show WA 2015.
