The first person who made wine in the Central Otago region must have been a visionary or slightly nutty, perhaps just lucky, because it’s not the most forgiving landscape. But those Kiwi’s are made of hardy resolve and they’ve gone to prove that Otago is now well and truly considered world class when it comes to Pinot Noir. This is a delicious all rounder full of cherry fruit, spice and a little oak. The palate rewards with silky texture and great length, it would pair well with wild mushroom risotto.
A rich ruby red vintage with silky tannins, good length and a generous aftertaste. It is a medium bodied wine with hints of delicious savoury oak and just a touch of spice. A very approachable Pinot Noir with sweet spicy aromas.
This wine has been specifically made to be more approachable,while still young and fresh. During the fermentation process great care was taken with temperature control to ensure only lighter smoother tannins were extracted from the skins.
Likewise the wine was only stored in French oak barrels for 8 months rather than the usual 12 to ensure the oak flavours in the wine were not overpowering. These measures have combined to create a very smooth elegant Pinot Noir.
