2013 Hungerford Hill Classic Series Gundagai Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Gundagai eh? Located not far from the Victorian/NSW border, it is better known for sheep than grapes but is gaining quite a reputation for spicy Shiraz in recent years. Hungerford Hill are on the case, and with this wine they've tapped into the spicy, berrylicious flavours that make Gundagai Shiraz so interesting.

Winemaker's Notes

A very bright although deep red colour with a dark centre with an intense aroma of spicy pepper, blackberry and clove. A medium bodied lusciously textured palate with ethereal tannins and generous length.

2013 Hungerford Hill Classic Series Gundagai Shiraz

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
An elegant and brightly flavoured medium-bodied shiraz that utterly belies its alcohol; matured in new and used French oak for 11 months; red and black cherry aromas and flavours have a distinct garnish of black pepper and a hint of oak; the tannins are graceful and balanced.
