Kaesler plus Barossa equals a damn fine drink. This is a classic Australian blend full of sweet fruit and loads of stuffing with plenty of interest sure to impress the snootiest of guests.

Winemaker's Notes

Estate grown fruit was crushed and de-stemmed, live yeast was then added for ferment. After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked and then returned to barrels. Matured in 3 year old French oak barriques for 15 months. The Grenache contributes vibrant fruit and softness; the Shiraz provides palate depth and aromatic spice.

Tasting Note:
Colour: Garnet.

Nose: Blue and black fruits of blueberries and blackcurrant, fresh violet florals on the nose.

Palate: Savoury notes and pepper spice, fresh rhubarb and fleshy fruit characters. Fine tannins and balanced acidity; length on the palate.

Notes: A wine to enjoy in its youth, however, it will happily live for a further 10 years.

Alc/vol: 15.0%

84% grenache from vines planted '30, 16% grenache planted '85, matured in used French barriques for 15 months. Has retained good colour for a blend such as this; a strongly spicy, floral bouquet, then a bright medium-bodied palate that carries its alcohol well; here a savoury web lies around plum and rhubarb fruit flavours, the tannins just sufficient - precisely where they should be.

It’s 84% grenache and the rest shiraz. Kaesler seem to make wines of full flavour yet freshness, by and large. Easy to like if you’re in the mood for palate staining, fuller figured reds. A pleasure to taste through the range, typically. This feels like the kind of wine that will scratch an itch. It’s sweet in perfume, dash of cedary oak, lifted and rich smelling without being overwhelming. The palate has a fleshiness but also a fine bite of oaky spice. It offers mellow, soft, forest berry fruits, a lick of vanilla, glides through to the little pucker that finishes the wine. It’s a winner in its style.
