2013 Karatta House Robe Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Robe never gets much love as a wine region and we think that's rather sad - it's a beautiful part of the world and can make some more-than-handy wines. This earthy Cabernet is a perfect example of that potential, the wine driven by rich curranty purple fruit in a style that says 'I love BBQs!'.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a deep ruby red colour with powerful yet harmonious dark berry fruit aromas backed by undertones of dried herbs and cedar. The palate is intense and complex, a full bodied Cabernet with blackberry and blackcurrant fruits accented with toasty oak flavours reflecting 18 months maturation in French oak. Drinking beautifully now and will improve with cellaring for the next decade.

Alc/vol: 14.2%

2013 Karatta House Robe Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
A 'generous portion' of new French barriques were used to mature the wine, and both that and the cool maritime climate of Robe came together to provide a well balanced medium-bodied wine that provides exceptional value for money.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Has the same richness and McLaren Vale-like overtones as the Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon. Once again, one cannot cavil at the expression of the region when there so much varietal flavour and structure. The luscious black fruits and powerful tannins will provide food for the wine to live off for every bit as long as the Shiraz Cabernet. Once again, good value.
