2013 Karatta House Robe Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

How good are the team at Karatta and we are lucky to have wines like this on board. This Shiraz has dense chocolatey, blackberry fruit with some pretty black olive and pepper complexity. Fleshy and powerful, it delivers layers of fruit flavour accented with subtle oak. Top value here.

Winemaker's Notes

The Karatta Shiraz 2013 displays an intense deep violet colour with aromas of rich plum and forest fruits accented by a fragrant oak background. This wine has soft, velvety tannins supporting complex raspberry, nutmeg and savoury cedar characters. A beautifully balanced and elegant Shiraz that will continue to improve and soften for years to come.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
Matured in French barriques (40% new). Brilliant crimson-purple; flush with black cherry and blackberry on the supple, medium to full-bodied palate, it eats, breathes and sleeps value for money. If you are looking for a $20 wine to lay down for someone's year of birth, this does the trick, for it also has the length and balance. How anyone can spend so much money on oak is beyond my ken.
