2013 Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This offering from Oakridge isn’t a bad effort for a difficult year, and it certainly makes for awesome drinking mid-week with lasagne. Aromas of cassis, crushed leaves, chocolate and cinnamon decorate the subtle nose, whilst the palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with slinky tannins, bright acidity, and a red fruited, earthy finish.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine was sourced from the north facing Oakridge Vineyard, sited in the grey alluvial soils of Coldstream.

A wonderful growing season with abundant spring rainfall, low crops, and warm ripening conditions has resulted in that are deeply flavoured and intensely varietal. A traditional approach was used to produce this wine - fermentation on skins with twice daily pump-overs for three weeks followed by a 16 month maturation in 225 litre French oak barrels.

2013 Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Elegant and deeply flavoured, with genuine depth, balance and structure. Its smoky fragrance of cassis, mulberries, small red berries and fresh vanilla oak reveals undertones of briar and dried herbs. Full to medium-bodied, its smooth, supple palate of bright, juicy small berry fruit knits seamlessly with cedar/vanilla oak and grainy spine of loose-knit tannin, finishing long and lively, with a bright acidity.
