2013 Pitchfork Shiraz
Do you want wines with substance that won’t break the bank? Then here’s another gem from the Margaret River that the Cracka team sniffed out thanks to our canny ability to spot a bargain that reeks of regional brilliance.
It’s been made by the winemaking talent behind the Hay Shed Hill winery; a collective of winegrowers and makers who bandied together to make wines that are regionally specific. A terrific example of a Margaret River Shiraz, it’s ripe and generously fruited and wants to be drunk young with alongside some gourmet sausages.
Nose: Ripe cherry and plum fruits with chocolaty influences.
Palate: The palate displays good depth of fruit concentration, ripe sweet fruit fleshiness in the mid palate and good flavour extension.

2013 Pitchfork Shiraz
Fermented in open stainless steel tanks with daily pump overs, matured in new and used French oak for 12 months. The bright crimson hue signals a fresh, juicy/spicy red fruit shiraz, and a gently savoury finish. Raring to go.By 2018Wine Companion
Attractive bouquet, showing sweet spice, bright red fruit, and an aromatic, almost floral lift. Just medium-bodied, the palate has a buoyant feel, the flavours not so deep, but juicy, fresh and lively. Gently persistent astringency gives shape and length to the finish, and the aftertaste of tangy red fruit lingers pleasantly.Drink by 2019
This is better than the asking price would suggest. It’s straight into no-brainer territory. It’s awash with black cherry and blackberry, is accented with cloves, and has a gum leafy note that adds lift without being distracting. The finish has just enough tannin to make it feel real and serious; the fruit though just makes you want to drink more.2016 - 2020
Mid crimson; bright fresh red and blueberry, spice and charry oaky bouquet; the medium-bodied palate is rugged and full of wild thyme and fresh acidity; enjoy this in the full flush of youth for maximum enjoyment. To 2015Australian Wine Companion 2013

This is just the sort of vibrant and juicy youthful wine the market is turning towards, with attractive red plum and spice on the nose, gentle oak influence and youthful enthusiasm that's infectious. The palate's easygoing and elegant, with smooth flesh building through the middle palate. Nicely balanced, very drinkable stuff.NowThe Good Wine Guide
Aromas of violets and cherry blossom on the bouquet lead into a vibrant, fresh palate with cherry and plum fruit leading the way. Excellent value.Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
Plenty of flavour and action at this price point, with red and black plum and cherry fruit plus savoury tannins.Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
