Cracka Review

Aromas of blackcurrants, dried leaves, florals and mint adorn the nose, whilst the palate is fuller-bodied and quite rich, with juicy berry and vanilla flavours, licks of toast, fine slinky tannins, and a tight, talcy finish thats keeps on truckin'. Cellar for a few more years, or enjoy with some rare roast beef tonight.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Dark red with purple tints

Bouquet: The aroma exhibits violets and cassis dark berry fruit with overtones of oak

Palate: The mid weight palate shows excellent flavour and structure with rich fruit and fine grained tannins. The finish is long and flavoursome. A classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon exhibiting elegance with excellent flavour and structure.

2013 Redman Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2014 Vintage) says
A pure, slightly austere, Cabernet, with one foot in the past, one in the future, and a third in the present reflected by the consequences of poor flowering. The result an intense wine made from small berries and elevated tannins which, if nothing else, mean a long life.

Now this is more like it! Blackberry, redcurrant, floral top notes, aniseed, tobacco and dark chocolate. Medium bodied, but dense and firm, mineral and tobacco, black fruits with a whisper of cedar oak. Tannin is well packed, and the acidity is perfectly settled. The finish is long, and slick with grainy chocolaty tannin. Ripper. This is terrific.

Jeremy Oliver (2014 Vintage) says
Easily the best wine I have tasted under this label, this very complete and tightly drilled young Cabernet reveals a heady, floral bouquet of pristine cassis, violets and fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by a gravelly, mineral aspect. It’s spotlessly clean, with a translucently bright, palate-staining expression of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and mulberries framed by a fine, drying and faintly gravelly grip of drying tannins. It finishes long, persistent and wrapped up by a refreshing acidity.

Tony Keys (2014 Vintage) says
Damp earth nose slightly feral which makes it interesting. On the palate it displays the strength that is Coonawarra Cabernet. It’s still young so 93 now and more down the track, worth putting a few away.
