2013 Tin Shed Melting Pot Shiraz Barossa Valley Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Tin Shed is exactly as it’s described, a basic shed where Peter and Anne Clarke make a small amount of wine in the Barossa. The Melting Pot describes the process of blending of various fruit parcels from the Eden Valley as well as adding some funk and spice from the addition of Grenache and Mourvedre. This is a classic Shiraz for pouring when you are cooking a large hunk of meat. It’s warm and spicy with great length and superb balance.

Winemaker's Notes

Made to drink now with a good pizza and will cellar well for 5 or 10 years.

Colour: Bright purple/crimson with a dark centre

Nose: A complex lifted nose showing chocolate and forest fruit with distinct cool climate pepper and mint tones

Palate: A medium to full bodied wine with great mouthfeel. The richness and intensity of valley floor fruit is beautifully balanced by the style and structure of Eden Valley fruit. 2013 was a great year for the Barossa and this is evident in the intense chocolate, mint and pepper shown on the palate. The finish is long and generous and will continue to develop with careful cellaring.
