Sourced from a Tyrrell's single vineyard in Willunga - located in the southern end of McLaren Vale - this rich, hearty and full-flavoured red wine just oozes classic Shiraz flavours, with endless plum, fine tannins and a long long finish. Matured for over 12 months in French oak, with deep purple/red flavours; layers of opulent choc-blackberry fruit and a touch of spice. It's the sort of wine that everyone likes and if they don't, they're not a real fan of Aussie Shiraz.
Vintage conditions: Good winter rains were followed by a very dry spring and summer causing harvest to start slightly earlier than normal. The vintage was characterised by mild weather with the exception of two mini heatwaves which meant there was a rush to harvest the Shiraz at optimum sugar levels.
Notes: The fruit was machine harvested before the must was chilled and transported to the Hunter Valley giving the must a 24 hour 'cold soak'. Once arriving at the winery the fruit was fermented in stainless steel before being matured in a mixture of new and seasoned French and American oak.
Tasting notes: Aromas of dark chocolate with black fruits, toasted coconut and a subtle vanilla lift from the oak. A dense, full bodied wine with dark chocolate that screams of its sense of place. A bold, generous wine that is drinking very well on release.
