Never heard of the 2013 Willandra Estate Leeton Cabernet Sauvignon? Neither had we. But when it lobbed up on the Cracka tasting bench we couldn't deny it - this is an absolute bargain red. Made by the Toorak Winery at Leeton near Griffith, this hearty red is what made the reputation of Aussie wine overseas. Lots of flavour, lots of heart.
Turns out that we were clearly on a good thing, as this Cabernet has both a gold and a silver medal to its name, with the blackberry fruits and chunky tannins making it an absolute winner with us and the judges.
Savoury character to the nose with cherry and liquorice hints. Firm velvety structure on the palate, which will soften with age.
