Antinori are legendary in Chianti, and this Peppoli offering is something a little different for Tuscany as it is made from a blend of 90% sangiovese, 10% merlot and syrah. There's a heap of red cherries on the nose, along with whiffs of crushed leaves, toasted cedar and mocha. The palate is medium to fuller-bodied, with cherry and savoury earthy flavours, gentle tannins, and lingering finish. It's a medium-term wine that would be great with a margherita pizza!
Ruby red in colour with purple highlights, the wine shows an intense nose, floral and with ample red fruit notes: the aromas of violets, cherries, and raspberries are well fused with smoky sensations from the oak ageing. On the palate it shows the characteristic vigour and savour of sangiovese, tannins which are supple in texture, and much vibrant freshness.
