I tasted this wine 18 months ago and wrote: “Strung with herbs and woodsmoke; velvety texture; light colour but real presence; tannic but flush with foresty fruit. Impeccable.” Impression today is more or less the same, though it now presents as minorly reductive and the tannin has mellowed to the point where it now sits melted into the fruit. We have a good wine on our hands here, not especially intense but complex and distinctive.2017 - 2023
Medium brick-red colour with a tawny rim, suggesting forward-development. The bouquet confirms this, and is very attractive in a complex, mellowed, tertiary developed way, showing tobacco aromas, fruit sweetness and softness, and good balance, drinkability and charm. Probably not for long keeping, but lovely now.2017 - 2022
A clear bright red colour, with hints of garnet on the rim. Upfront raspberries, wild strawberries and orange peel give way to a complex bouquet showing damp earth, cedar and notes of subtle spicy oak. A truly spicy wine whole bunch stemmy character lifting the varietal red fruits; very fresh and lively with razor-like acidity holding the palate together for a very long time. A soft and velvety mouthfeel with fine-grained tannins.
