    cracka review

Boysenberry, black olive, plum and violet, this is a wine packed with flavour and certainly not lacking in structure. Complexity and fleshy power are tempered in balance with bright acid and firm tannins, leaving no uncertainty that this is a special wine, built for the long haul.

    expert reviews

    Huon Hooke (2014 Vintage) says
Deep, dark purple red colour, youthful and vibrant. The bouquet is intensely aromatic with violet, blueberry, mulberry notes and it's lush and generous in the mouth, full-bodied and smooth, with decadent ripe fruit surrounded by masses of supple, ripe tannins. A ripping Malbec, almost lush in its fruit flavour and decadence, although its substantial tannin and extract ensure the wine has excellent structure for ageing. A ripper!
    James Halliday (2014 Vintage) says
From local grower Rick Eckert's vineyard, de-stemmed, open-fermented, 11 days on skins, matured for 11 months in used French puncheons, trophy Australian National Single Vineyard Show, gold Langhorne Creek Wine Show '16. Deeply coloured; a limited quantity made, only in the best vintages, intended as the ultimate Malbec from Bleasdale. Significantly fuller-bodied than Second Innings, and promising much for those who wait.
    James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Quite amazing colour with a strong purple hue; the bouquet is vibrant and redolent of violets, blueberry and cinnamon; the concentration of the wine is staggering, but there is not a trace of heaviness to the palate; a great example of how expressive the variety can be.

    winemaker's notes

The 2014 Double Take is a barrel selection of the best parcel of Malbec from a selected vineyard. The wine is only made in small quantities in exceptional years and it is the ultimate expression of Malbec from Bleasdale.

Rich and full bodied, this wine shows all of the hallmark of great Langhorne Creek Malbec - intense violet, boysenberry and black olive aromas and flavours with powerful fruit flavour and firm structure from grape tannin.

Winemaking: De-stemmed to open fermenters for preferment maceration. Pumped over up to 4 times daily. Drained & pressed after 11 days on skins, settled for 24 hours before racking to oak for MLF and maturation.

Cellaring Potential: Drinking well now until 2022.

    Alc/vol: 14.5%
