It's always a struggle to find good value Bordeaux, not helped by the (surprisingly) limited volume that makes it to Australia, let alone by how much we have to reject to find the real gems! That's why it was a pleasure to stumble across this Chateau Clos Moulin Pontet Bordeaux Superieur, which not only tastes like classic Bordeaux but is available at an amazing price too! Medium-bodied and with that classic combination of cedar, blackberry fruit and then drying tannins, this is a genuinely full-flavoured Bordeaux rouge at a fantastic price.

Winemaker's Notes

Region: Bordeaux

Wine grape varieties: 52% Merlot ; 28% Cabernet Sauvignon ; 20% Cabernet Franc

Soil type: Clay and limestone

Winemaking process: Cold maceration (3-4 days) and fermentation of about 5 weeks depending on the quality and regular tastings. Vinification made in stainless steel vats with thermo-regulation system.
