2014 Chateau Malbat Optimus Bordeaux
They say you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince... and it seems it is also the case when it comes to finding well priced, affordable Bordeaux, as our team of persistent and patient wine buyers well and truly found out!!
Our team tasted at least 150-200 different wines before finding this little beauty. It's got exactly what you want from an approachable, ready-to-drink Bordeaux - lashings of up front fruit; classic Cabernet fleshiness and a rich deep mid palate.
It's a wine to buy and drink straight away. Brilliant with stews and meats, it can sit easily as well with a big cheese platter.
Winemaking Process: Traditional wine making in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Maceration at 8°C during 5 days/ Alcoholic fermentation during 15 days at 25°C.
Tasting Notes: Its intense colour gives way to a complex nose of jam fruits. The attack is frank and fleshy on the palate, with well-ripe black fruit aromas and chocolate notes. The generous tannins on the finish gives a good balance and strong length to this wine.
Ageing Potential: 5-10 years.
Grape Varieties: 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc
