2014 Kangarilla Road Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

Winemaker's Notes

A delicious blend of tinned pineapple, white peach and lemon meringue pie with hints of wattle blossom on the nose. The palate has a luscious mouthfeel and the wine is really well balanced with flavours that combine lemon sherbet, nashi pear and white peach.

Our Chardonnay is a fresh modern Australian style, citrus driven and complemented by the light use of oak with 30% of the wine fermented in new French oak Barriques. This wine was matured for around 100 days in oak with daily barrel stirring. The oak component is unobtrusive yet critical to the overall aroma and flavour texture.

Expert Reviews

Mike Bennie (2015 Vintage) says
Oxidative characters in bouquet, grilled nuts, sea spray, green banana, stone fruit. Ripper. Thrills n spills. Quite a richness to taste, oily with apple essence, fino sherry-like saline characters, nuttiness and a touch of salt n vinegar to close. Attempt at Jura style seems the ticket, and it’s done pretty well. Quite compelling actually.
