The Orange region has a likely future with good-quality pinot noir, and here's a wine that gives some insight into the brightly structured, richly-flavorued possibilities. Classic cherry, kirsch and some dark berries on the nose, with wild mountain herbs also in the mix. The palate's flavoursome and juicy, with springy tannin and fresh acidity holding shape.

Bright violet fruits and blueberry pinot in its new folksy livery, attractive freshness and varietal purity with some alluring background oak spice. The palate's direct primary fruit gets straight down to cherry flavour and musky tannin, finishing fresh and clean.

Demonstrates that Orange can produce good pinot when conditions are right and the grapes (as here) treated with respect; a light but correct mix of plum, cherry and forest floor; perhaps a little hard on the finish,

Quite intense spicy, stemmy notes to the varietal fruit; good texture and length, again with a stemmy cut on the finish, adding rather than subtracting.
