2014 Longline Albright Grenache

Winemaker's Notes

Sourced from 2 separate vineyard parcels, the San Remo vineyard above Onkaparinga Gorge on the Northern edge of McLaren Vale and Bernard and Wayne Smart’s Clarendon vineyard.

Both dry grown vineyards are in excess of 50 years of age and both provide the density of fruit & structural power that is the Albright style. The San Remo vineyard provides the Albright with power & depth of flavour whilst the Smart Clarendon vineyard parcel, on deep grey sands, provides perfume, dried herbs and spice with underlying complex earth notes.

Hand-picked, 20% whole bunch fermentation and extended skin contact for 4 weeks prior to pressing and matured in seasoned nine & ten year old French oak puncheons for 10 months.

The 2014 Albright Grenache was bottled in February 2015.

Great with BBQ homemade pork and fennel seed sausages served with radicchio braised with blue cheese.

Enjoy whilst full of vibrant fruit or cellar for 8 + years in appropriate cellar conditions.

Alc/vol: 14.5%

2014 Longline Albright Grenache

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2014 Vintage) says
Light, bright hue; the fragrant red berry bouquet tells you all is well in the grenache world, the palate likewise.

Gary Walsh (2014 Vintage) says
Really lovely rose and dried herb perfume, spice, raspberry and cherry. It’s just medium bodied, with firm fine grained tannin, gently earthy savoury flavours playing with those high toned florals and red fruits. Pulls dry and grainy on the finish, but never loses its charm and high drinking appeal.
