2014 Man O' War Valhalla Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Valhalla is a reference to Norse Mythology where the Vikings would get to feast with the gods. You can feast with the Chardonnay gods too thanks to this inspired and delicious wine. There’s extraordinary fruit here with grapefruit and orange rind as well as intense apricot framed by clever oak. It’s a savoury and complex wine that shows good weight and formidable balance. A seriously impressive Chardonnay that is inspiring and delicious.

Winemaker's Notes

The shining and golden hall in Norse Mythology where the souls of fallen Viking warriors chosen by Odin feasted with the gods, the name Valhalla is conferred upon our finest barrels of Chardonnay selected each vintage by our winemaker.

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This is a flinty golden chardonnay that has good ripeness, concentration and a flinty edge across ripe peach and mango fruits. The palate's juicy and even, showing rich fruit texture and bundles of flavour; a juicy peach and mango finish, and grilled cashews chime in late.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
With a strong serve of flinty sulphides, this has struck-match and pithy lemon and grapefruit on the nose; some sherbet-like elements too. The palate's juicy and crisp, with citrusy acidity driving the show along; some savoury nutty almond notes through the back. Terrific wine in a contained, complex style.
