A blend of cabernet, merlot, petit verdot and malbec overflowing with a rainbow of cassis/blackcurrant redcurrant, plum and mulberry on the bouquet and palate alike. So much is the impact of the fruit, it buries the tannins, but allows the French oak to add yet another flavour. Why not tonight?

Smells fancy and luxurious, reminiscent of stepping into a fancy new car or a private library. It’s rich in mahogany-esque oak scents, dark chocolate, fine cassis and new leather, with just a hint of sea spray and salt bush herbal nuance in there. The palate is the texture of soft leather, supple and slightly gritty with dark fruits, herbs, oak, and then slips away with some dilution through a transparent, short finish. What’s there gives that sense of luxury again, but couldn’t help but wish it hung around more.

With its fruit well into the baked spectrum of currants and prunes, this dense and rather astringent cabernet has a slightly varnishy bouquet of blackberries, casis and briar backed by suggestions of prunes and mocha. Deeply flavoured and dark-fruited, it's chunky and awkward, drying out to a finish that lacks its customary elegance and freshness.
