Cracka Review

This winery is going through a huge renaissance at the moment, and when you get this home, you will recognise the name straight away. A one time leading winery of the 90's and 2000's, this brand has been on a bit of a hiatus, until now!

This GSM shows us exactly why these guys were leading the charge in quality a few years ago, and why they are a force to be reckoned with now.

Big bold Grenache, followed by some nice fleshy shiraz and finished up with some nice, dry Mourvedre. Its an amazing blend of wine, and we can see why it sells easily at $40 on the wineries website. You will fall off your chair when it arrives at your door.... And probably straight on the phone for more, no doubt.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep, dark and brooding, the nose is a true reflection of the three varieties in this blend. Grenache provides darker, savoury, earthy characters. Shiraz typical red berry and plum, and the Mourvèdre spice and black pepper.

The palate demonstrates all of the hallmarks of this world famous blend. Soft and unctuous with a juicy mouthfeel, the wine is full bodied and packed with flavours of red berry and spice. Fine tannins lead to a dry and long finish perfect for food.

Selected from three parcels of Grenache, five parcels of Shiraz and one parcel of Mourvèdre all from different micro climates in McLaren Vale. The first two Grenache parcels comes from an early ripening Aldinga site giving brooding dark fruit with strong structural tannins. The second Grenache is from near Willunga which produces more red fruit and finer tannins. The Shiraz parcels vary from selected sites in McLaren Flat and Blewitt Springs each offering different levels of spice, dark fruit and structural tannins. The Mourvedre was selected from a vineyard near McLaren Flat and shows spicy lift and structural tannins.

A full-bodied blend in archetypal McLaren Vale style, awash with satsuma plum, dark small berry fruits, spice and a powerful framework of ripe tannins and oak to guide its long path to the future.
