2014 Mystery Central Otago Pinot Noir

This is exactly what you want from a nice rich, plump Central Otago Pinot Noir. A large part of the fruit for this wine is sourced from this wineries extremely special single vineyard site. Whatever doesn't get used in its $45 a bottle wine, goes into this, along with premium fruit from its other sites in and around the Bendigo sub region of Otago. Very versatile food wine - everything from duck pancakes to roast pork. Really, really good...
2014 was an outstanding vintage. Comprised of 10 Pinot Noir clones, spread across three different terraces, the vineyard's challenge was to enhance individual expression of the fruit whilst ensuring even ripening. In 2014 picking was slightly early, the call was based on the tannin and flavour profile, where floral notes and vibrancy of flavour took preference.
Colour is a deep ruby red. it has aromas of red cherry, raspberry and vibrant spice with a hint of oak.
Bold fruit flavours fill the front palate and meld perfectly with the spicy oak. Fine acid gives the wine lovely structure, punctuated by the polished fruit and oak tannins. Perfect with a rack of lamb with oven roasted potatoes, juicy green vegetables and homemade rich gravy.
Will age beautifully for the next 5 to 6 years.
