2014 Naked Vine Pinot Gris Marlborough Pinot Gris

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Good Gris is hard to find. It really is. Sure, there is oceans of the stuff out there, but the genuinely well balanced wines are about as common as thrash metal fans at a Kylie concert. Thankfully this Naked Vine Pinot Gris ticks the 'balance' box perfectly. Sourced from the certified organic Patriarch vineyard in Marlborough's Wairau Valley, this fresh white carefully matches hedonistic Gris fruit richness with some wonderfully crisp acidity to make for a deliciously refreshing wine.

Winemaker's Notes

A very inviting fruit-salad of pineapple, rock melon, tangerine citrus, varietal nashi pears, combined with rich aromas of toffee, baked apple or quince and delicate floral honeysuckle. The palate of this wine is an intriguing mix of sweet fruit flavours paired with dry styling, and rich textures laced through a delicate structure. You may find this wine pairs well with a variety of vegetarian, chicken, fish, seafood and mildly spiced Asian dishes, as an aperitif wine individually or with an antipasto/cheese board. Best served lightly chilled. This wine will continue to develop over the next two years and may reward further cellaring for up to 6 years. This wine was made with minimal intervention and following organic winemaking practices. The resulting wine therefore showcases the terroir of the unique Patriarch vineyard site in the upper Wairau valley.
