    cracka review

Hailing from Mount Benson in South Australia, this 100% estate grown Cab Sav, with a splash of Cab Franc for complexity, certainly delivers bang for your buck! This densely coloured and aromatic little number has some appealing blackcurrant, dark chocolate and tobacco with a hint of minty freshness on the nose. The dark berried palate gives way to oak that won't knock your socks off, and fine talcy tannins. Ready to go now, or will keep for a couple more years.

    expert reviews

    James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Estate-grown; given cold-soak maceration prior to initiation of fermentation, thereafter spending 16 months in French oak; it has attractive cassis fruit, but also the varietal tendency to back off on the mid-palate before tannins return on the finish.

    James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Good colour; has the weight and conviction lacking in other Norfolk Rise wines; strong blackcurrant varietal fruit supported by balanced tannins and a long finish.

    WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Peaty/forest floor bouquet and minty/blackberry palate thats developed and complex

    James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Savoury, medium-bodied style with some herb and olive offset by quite a deal of oak.

    James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Bright colour; particularly elegant, silky mouthfeel; sweet, but not jammy, cassis/blackcurrant fruit; fine tannins, integrated oak.

    Ken Gargett (2004 Vintage) says
Norfolk Rises again with another really well-made, solid red from Mount Benson near Coonawarra. This is a medium-bodied redÑnot a McLaren Vale blockbuster or the like, but a smooth and seductive type not unlike Benson himself. Wasn't he just the coolest butler in the world? Or was that Belvedere? No matter, go forth and discover Mount BensonÑit could be the new Coonawarra.
