Cracka Review

Pirramimma are famed for producing Australia's first Petit Verdot in 1994, so they are the 'go to' guys for the variety. Petit Verdot always has brilliant colour, and the nose of this version shows lots of brambly black fruits, slight florals and tobacco on the nose. The palate is spicy and compact with plums, earthiness and vanillin oak, coupled with fine tannins and a dry, spiced finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Tasting Notes: The wine has a lifted bouquet of Kirsch cherry, violets, boysenberry and cedary oak. With the palate exhibiting spicy blackberry, musk, tangy Morello cherry and Santa Rosa plum, complemented by hints of blueberry and Kalamata olive. The fine grain textured tannins, subtle oak and savoury varietal flavours are beautifully integrated in a long sustained finish.

Vintage Report: Our mature Petit Verdot vines relished the exceptional 2014 vintage, producing a broad spectrum of excellent flavours. For this elegant wine we selected fruit from the Siberia, OTC and Katunga vineyards, each block providing its own distinctive profile.

Winemaking: The wine was matured in French and American oak for 28 months.

Dense crimson-purple; Pirramimma has some of the oldest Petit Verdot plantings in Aus, if not the oldest. This has relaxed power, with layer upon layer of dark berry fruits interleaved with ripe tannins, oak a minor player. Has time on its side, but no issue if enjoyed now rather than later.
