cracka review

Some of the fruit for this wine comes from a vineyard block planted in 1944 called 'Prisoner of War', but this wine will not hold you prisoner on the price. It's a pretty, perfumed wine showing spiced cherries and raspberries on the nose. The palate is quite super-charged with flavours of plums, red fruits and chocolate with fine tannins and a savoury, dry, spicy finish. Would be awesome with slow-cooked beef cheek.

expert reviews

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Shows spicy, earthy bottled developed characters; distinct Southern Rhone notes, the tannins balanced. Vines planted in 1944.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Excellent colour; lush red and black fruits in a web of fine, cedary tannins — simply delicious. Best of all, has a screwcap.

winemaker's notes

The wine displays an exotic perfumed nose of red cherry, rose petal, raspberry and hints of spice and chocolate. With the palate delivering rich raspberry, spicy black plum, mulberry, fruit cake and a touch of toffee apple, enhanced by fine grain tannins. This quintessential Grenache exhibits great power and length of flavour. Will develop under the right cellaring conditions for up to 10 years.
