2014 Sevenhill Inigo Riesling

Expert Reviews

Gary Walsh (2016 Vintage) says
It’s a delicate style, and quite shy in its youth, with clean lemony flavour, fine acidity, flinty feel and a crunchy lemon-water finish. Not a powerhouse style at all. Certainly water-colours here, but all the elements are in harmony I think. So, if you like them light and fresh, it’s a good option.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Bottled and released in May ’12, its scented, floral bouquet and expressive palate an early testament to the quality of the vintage; it has a similarly evocative palate, with citrus fruit framed by slatey acidity on a lingering finish. Great bargain.

There s a great, stony, mineral edge here, some terrific stone fruits too; great freshness and concentration, almost flinty. The palate has a generosity, some lively stone fruits, nectarine and each, some lime too. Great elegance with concentration here.

Slightly severe for a 2012 with lime and apple fresh fruit aromas. The palate is open, zippy acidity varietal with appealing evenness and good middle palate fruit and grippy apple finish. Very Clare in style.

Light straw-green; the flowery aromatic bouquet leads logically into a very focused and balanced palate, with lime and lemon citrus fruit offset by immaculately judged acidity.

Sevenhill is half way from Watervale on the road to Clare. It has less of WaterValespice and its own sub regional limey riesling aroma and a palate half way towards Clare leanness than Watervale richness with lovely with persistence offering great value.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
This beautiful estate-grown riesling has a startlingly fragrant bouquet, perfumed and flowery, and the palate comes as no disappointment, with lilting citrus and passionfruit flavours and a long finish. Sometimes this level of fruit expression has a degree of reduction, but this wine is as fresh as a spring day.

A crystalline, pure slate and lime zest nose that really sparkles with clarity and precision - it all speaks of slate and Sevenhill terroir. The palate is engaging for the power it wields in contained shape and the length of flavour, acid balance and all-round intensity. Very young, like driving fast with the roof down.

Quite deep colour; a touch of kerosenewith lime and mineral notes; quite rich on the palate with a strong quince flavourevident
